Banning such strong encryption-based information and communications services would severely limit the effectiveness and productivity of India’s corporations. Second, many countries around the world are putting in place additional policies and processes to properly address this challenge and prevent the misuse of strong encryption technologies. Third, this challenge can only be truly overcome if the Information and Communications Technology industry comes together as a whole to work with the Government of India.
The use of strong encryption in wireless technology is not unique to the BlackBerry platform. It is unquestionably an industry wide matter. Strong encryption has become a mandatory requirement for all enterprise-class wireless email services today and is also a fundamental commercial requirement for any country to attract and maintain international business. Similarly strong encryption is currently used pervasively in traditional VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) on both wired and wireless networks in order to protect corporate, government and law enforcement communications. Singling out and banning one solution, such as the BlackBerry solution, would be ineffective and counter-productive. It would be ineffective because anyone perpetrating the misuse of the technology would continue to have easy access to other wireless and wireline services that utilize strong encryption and are readily available in the market today. It would also be counter-productive since it would unnecessarily disrupt the business operations of many customers without ever achieving the stated objective.
There’s an upcoming promo from SMART Communications that remains to be a mystery for their Facebook fans. It says that it’s going to be big yet free but is only for people ages 18 and up.
So what could it mean? Adult or gambling content from SMART? I don’t think they would like to put too much hype on that.
Maybe the 18 and up doesn’t represent age? Maybe it’s number of years with SMART? Nah. Or how about bills that regularly reach 18k? Hahaha. Come to think of it I think it really represents age. But what can SMART offer to their adult subscribers that those below 18 wouldn’t want to have?

In the recent Apple press conference, Steve Jobs talked about the antenna issue of their iPhone 4. He said that it is real but also showed that other phones exhibit the same problem with call dropping due to the antenna as well.
Included in the phones tested by Apple was the BlackBerry Bold 9700. Research in Motion (RIM) was not happy with how Apple dragged them into their mess.
RIM’s CEOs has this to say to Apple:
“Apple's attempt to draw RIM into Apple's self-made debacle is unacceptable. Apple's claims about RIM products appear to be deliberate attempts to distort the public's understanding of an antenna design issue and to deflect attention from Apple's difficult situation. RIM is a global leader in antenna design and has been successfully designing industry-leading wireless data products with efficient and effective radio performance for over 20 years. During that time, RIM has avoided designs like the one Apple used in the iPhone 4 and instead has used innovative designs which reduce the risk for dropped calls, especially in areas of lower coverage. One thing is for certain, RIM’s customers don’t need to use a case for their BlackBerry smartphone to maintain proper connectivity. Apple clearly made certain design decisions and it should take responsibility for these decisions rather than trying to draw RIM and others into a situation that relates specifically to Apple." - Mike Lazaridis and Jim Balsillie

So why did Google put a Pacman game on its homepage? Well if you don’t know yet, it’s to commemorate the 30th year of the Pacman game. Yep, Pacman is a game developed by Namco and was first released in Japan on May 22, 1980. That’s the reason.

I don’t know how this site performs or if I do have regular readers due to the lack of comments. I’m happy though that a lot of people are reaching my blog via search engines. Google even gave me a PR3 to end the year. However, Adsense is still not picking up as much as I want to but I’m earning some. Good thing sponsored posts are still available.
For next year, I think I would stick to the 1 post per weekday unless there’s something really nice that I wanted to share. Then enjoy the weekend off from this blog. I’m planning to kick myself into redesigning the header as well.
