Importance of research when it comes to web hosting

I'll tell you a story why I think you should not get just any web hosting service. There's usually another hosting that could get you value for your money and cheaper often doesn't lead to good service.

I did a bit of research myself when I purchased this web hosting for my other blog. I read forums, reviews and even researched about the company. I was going for cheap hosting since I only have a small but growing blog.

I knew that the company doesn't offer 24 support. What can you expect from dirt-cheap hosting anyway? And I was fine with that. Surely, after a month into the service I've been experiencing problems, down times, database errors, etc. And since I live in the other side of the world, it's hard to communicate with their support so resolving the problem takes days. Now, I'm exceeding my allotted bandwidth per month so I have to upgrade. I'm thinking of switching hosts but believe me, it's not easy to transfer your whole blog to a new host!

To avoid making the same mistake as I did, I suggest you check sites that review various website hosting for different needs including blogging. They do the hardwork for you and gives you a list of hosting ranked by reliability, features, uptime, customer support, user feedback and price-value ratio.

It is very important to start right so choose wisely.
