Subscribe RSSI’m contemplating of removing the Bookmark button by Addthis from my site. If you don’t know what this button is for, it allows each of your post to be bookmarked easily via Digg, StumbleUpon, Facebook or whatever social networking site you’re into.
But the question is, have you ever really used such button? I haven’t. I’ve been blogging for over a year and visiting blogs for a longer time but I haven’t used this Bookmark feature yet. I just thought it would be nifty to have it on my site when I started this blog.
Right now with all those javascripts (izearanks arrghh) loading at the start, my site’s loading time is slowing down so I’m thinking of removing unneeded scripts. I also notice (not only on my blog) that it takes a bit longer to communicate with www.addthis.com that’s why I’m ready to cut this one out. Should I?

But I do not have any problem with loading your site, mabilis naman yung loading eh, Yung ibang blogs grabe kabigat, lalo na yung iba na ang daming borloloy na widgets he he he. Anyway tama ka na sa tagal na ng addthis button na yan, di pa ako naka gamit nyan, so mukhang ganun din ang majority ng bloggers, ala time mag addthis.

ahh hmm. napapansin ko lang na sa status bar na laging naiipit ng mas matagal sa addthis.com aside from izearanks.

Ginagamit ko ang AddThis widget noon, sa single parent blog. Ngayon pinalitan ko na - let's say outdated widget na kasi yung design na yan. Meron pa kasing extra steps bago makapag-bookmark ng site.
Helpful pa rin yang widget na yan, kung meron kang mga kasama sa social networks.
Ginagamit ko yan, pero pag iboo-bookmark ko ang blog.

I think you should enable it only on permalink pages, not the home page.

may be for fast conection it's not a problem, but for the others, it can make crazy to waiting for load.
I took it off. No one ever used it. Real estate is more valuable than that.
yeah i dont think anybody would bookmark my posts anyway. hehehe. i'll just remove it the next time i tweak my code.
True that it does slow things down. In my experience, nobody has ever used it - I get more success with a single 'stumble this' or 'reddit this' button at the foot of the post.
