Cebu Inmates dance with Michael Jackson’s Choreographer

I know most of you know this already but I just want to write about it because well I’m proud of my heritage and what the Cebu Provincial Detention And Rehabilitation Center (CPDRC) Dancing Inmates have accomplished.

According to Michael Jackson’s choreographer, Travis Payne, MJ watched the online videos of the Cebu Dancing Inmates during breaks from his “This Is It” tour rehearsals. This gave Payne the idea to pay tribute to MJ by performing with the inmates the last scene they worked on together before the King of Pop died in June.

Payne contacted Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and visited the performers in the prison to teach the routines of “The Drill” which features Michael Jackson’s song “They Don’t Really Care About Us” is from a scene in “This Is It”. He worked with the inmates for two hours on Jan 17th and the 18th and was released the following weekend.

It’s not as polished if you look closely but the performance looks good as whole especially the “peace sign” formation. Way to go guys!
